AAPLD YS - Find Books by Lexile Range
Annotation:These are picture books and easy reader titles that fall below the official start of the Lexile measures.
Annotation:These picture books and easy readers are great for ages 4-7 and Grades K-1. This list also includes a few of our easiest graphic novels and a couple of Nate the Great beginning chapter books.
Annotation:More picture books and easy readers, but now chapter books like Junie B. Jones are included as well! These titles would be good for ages 5-8 and grades K-2.
Annotation:Good for ages 6-8 and grades 1-2. Still includes lots of picture books and easy readers, but with more chapter books mixed in - including such favorites as the Magic Tree House books.
Annotation:Great for ages 6-9 and grades 2-3, this list has a mix of chapter books, picture books and easy readers. Favorite characters include Geronimo Stilton, Amelia Bedelia, and Henry and Mudge.
Annotation:For ages 7-9 and grades 2-3, this list still includes higher level picture books, but has lots of great chapter books! This is where you can find My Weird School, Ivy + Bean, and Judy Moody.
Annotation:Ages 8-11 and grades 3-4 should enjoy these titles. Longer picture books for older readers are still included as well as fiction favorites such as the Rainbow Fairies and Percy Jackson.
Annotation:This list is for more advanced readers aged 8-11 or in grades 3-5. Favorite characters in these titles include the American Girls, the Warriors and the Sisters Grimm.
Annotation:For ages 9-11 or grades 4-6. Popular titles here include the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan, the Alchemyst series by Michael Scott, Allie Finkle's Rules for Girls by Meg Cabot, non-fiction nature titles by Nic Bishop and fiction by Andrew Clements.
Annotation:Includes titles for ages 10 and up or grades 5 and up. Find here some of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, some Harry Potter, and lots of non-fiction.
Annotation:For upper grade school and middle school readers. Find tons of non-fiction here as well as Lemony Snicket and plenty of Newbery winners and honors.
Annotation:For upper grade school and middle school readers. This list holds even more non-fiction, but still has some great fiction titles by classic authors as well as more recent authors like Philip Reeve and Nancy Springer.

These searches will locate books within the noted Lexile ranges at the Algonquin Library, both the Main (Harnish) and Branch (Eastgate) locations. Interested in what's on the shelf right now? Once you've accessed the search, under the "Available now" section on the left, select "At any location" or choose the Algonquin location you prefer. All age and grade level recommendations are guidelines only - your child's interests matter more. The Lexile system does not take into account content or age appropriateness. These searches are limited to items in the Youth Services collections, but we recommend that concerned parents preview titles as needed to determine their suitability for your child. Don't forget you can further limit the lists by format, content, genre, topic and more!
